Reviews
Came here this afternoon with my husband and son and what an awesome choice! Authentic Belgian food and drink in a very cosy relaxed atmosphere, with really friendly and efficient staff. Food is amazing and very filling (no tiny portions here) and they have an extensive drinks menu which has absolutely something for everyone, I highly recommend the Delirium Red beer! Too full up to try desert but will do that another day đ
Now, I really wanted to enjoy Huis. Made the trip especially to visit and I donât know if it was because it was a quiet Tuesday, but something was just off.
Positives first - food was lovely, reasonably priced and well portioned. Great selection of beers, both draught house beers and guests, and plenty of bottles to choose from.
Negatives - it wasnât very busy yet we were kept waiting so long for drinks. It took our first drink 10 minutes to be ordered, and subsequent drinks had to be chased. Also has a policy of halves and pints only, would have much preferred a third or two thirds of some of the beers.
Overall - would recommend a visit, book a table in advance as itâs not very big and hope for a day when the staff are more on their game.
Great neighbourhood joint serving lots and lots of Belgian beers with a cracking selection of food. Plenty of meat based options as you would expect, and of course great fries!
Lovely staff too!
5 stars would give more but can't! Fantastic hosts with a good knowledge of Belgian beers, which is very pleasing as the range is superb. A couple of cheesy snacks were cooked to perfection. It's best to book a table ahead as we only just got in. Small amount of stalls at the bar for drinking only.
A fantastic bar. Boerenerf Kwee lambic was the star of the show as regards the beers.
This is one of the best places to drink and eat in Portsmouth! The food is good, you have infinite beer types to choose from and the deserts are delicious. Also the staff is very professional and friendly. The location is perfect, the place is cozy and the music is good. Strongly recommend!
Absolute gem of a restaurant, serving traditional Belgian drinks and food. The food servings were large and most of all delicious. It gives you a true taste of Belgium. The staff were super welcoming and friendly. They recommended beers from the huge selection and allowed me to sit and wait for a table as it was busy! No surprise it's Number 1 rated on Trip Advisor. You won't be disappointed.
Have visited a few times over the years but this was the first time eating here. The food was phenomenal and portions very large. would definitely recommend coming with a very empty stomach as you certainly won't be leaving with one. Great selection of food and beers that was enjoyed by all. Booking highly recommended to avoid disappointment especially at weekends.
Went for lunch today, booked in advance but there was plenty of seating. Food was of incredible quality and very tasty, definitely consumed more than I should have! Over 70 Belgian beers to choose from with my favourites being served. Service was very friendly and inviting and accommodated our dog with us. I would thoroughly consider driving all the way (2h drive) to Portsmouth to eat there again! Also took away some beers with us to enjoy later on.
